The renewed online service of the Sámi Regional Education Centre better supports educational activities in Sámi culture and languages

Over the years, SAKK's website had accumulated a lot of content, which made its structure complex and in need of renewal. At the same time, there was a desire to develop the user experience of the service and update the visual appearance of the site to meet modern expectations. The user experience on mobile devices left much to be desired, and the old publishing platform no longer met the expectations of modern content management. For these reasons, it was deemed necessary to implement a comprehensive renewal that covered the technical platform, visual appearance, as well as the renewal of the content and structure.

Tietotalo and SAKK implemented a revamp of the educational center's online service, in which, in addition to a simple visual overhaul, the site underwent a comprehensive change in content and functionality, and the underlying Infoweb publishing platform was replaced with its latest version. The new online service better meets the educational institution's communication needs and supports better applications for education.

Tietotalo has been a long-term partner responsible for SAKK's online services. And because the publishing platform developed by Tietotalo has been stable and secure and the collaboration has gone well, SAKK decided to renew its online service together with Tietotalo and migrate its online services to the latest Infoweb Core platform version.

The system, based on Microsoft's .Net technology, guarantees speed, data security and scalability in conjunction with the Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The new Infoweb platform version operates in a so-called headless manner, meaning that its content management is separated from the data presentation surface, and the data contents themselves are separated from the data structure information. This makes the platform truly versatile, especially when combined with the possibility of using a traditional Coupled CMS solution in the same multi-tenant environment. The platform can flexibly serve different use cases such as online services, online stores, mobile applications and even educational institution information displays.

The key goal of the reform was to develop a new training calendar that would make it easier to browse training courses, find the right training, and apply for training.

Infoweb Core is an API-centric content management and publishing platform that offers excellent usability and scalability. The platform is modular and API-centric at its core, meaning that extensibility and integrations are part of its DNA. The tools developed by Tietotalo for the platform cover all the key content and functionality needs of a modern web service CMS while providing a smooth user experience.

The project is still continuing in terms of content, as the online service will be translated into all Sámi languages ​​spoken in Finland.
